Young Life Charleston
Young Life is a non-denominational, Christian, non-profit organization that is committed to introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith. Young Life staff and leaders are caring adults who strive to build positive relationships with teenagers.
Through friendships as well as through club, Campaigners and camp, Young Life leaders get to know teenagers and gain their trust. Because of these relationships, leaders “earn the right to be heard” and can share the Gospel with their teenage friends.
Young Life wants to reach every kid, everywhere, for eternity. Currently, Young Life is active in all 50 states and more than 45 foreign countries, reaching an estimated one million teenagers annually. Approximately 120,000 middle school and high school students are involved with Young Life on a weekly basis. More than 75,000 kids spend a weekend during the school year or a week in the summer at one of Young Life's 21 camping properties in the United States and Canada.
Young Life has been holding its city-wide gatherings at Second Church since 2006 in addition to continuously building their relationship (when they’re not breaking stained glass windows) through various other joint projects.

Lowcountry Christian Consortium
The Lowcountry Christian Consortium, spearheaded by our Rev. Darwin, was formed in 2005 as an ecumenical initiative to do together what a single entity could not -- to sponsor and encourage high-quality Christian events in the Charleston area in order to strengthen the unity among churches and to reach out to the wider community with the message of faith, hope and love found in Jesus Christ.

The Poetry Society of South Carolina
The Poetry Society of South Carolina, established in 1920, is the oldest organization of its kind in America. An all-volunteer group with its hub in Charleston, they exist to support the reading, writing, study, and enjoyment of poetry across the state. They host free readings and lectures, and foster the craft of poetry by offering seminars, workshops, writers' groups, and prizes that include cash awards and publication. Among the nationally known poets they have featured through the years, sometimes in collaboration with another group, are Edna St. Vincent Millay, Robert Frost, Henry Taylor, and Billy Collins.
Our twenty-two poetry contests include the Skylark Prize, a student competition whose guidelines are sent to every public school in the state. During some years they also hold the Kinloch Rivers Chapbook Competition. The Writers' Group meets monthly in Mt. Pleasant to critique drafts. The board of the Poetry Society meets once a month during the academic calendar year, and is pleased to include the current Poet Laureate of South Carolina, Marjory Wentworth. The work that they do is supported through the dues and volunteer efforts of our members, contest entry fees, and contributions from South Carolina businesses and charities.
