CHILDREN’S CHAPEL

Sundays at 10:30 a.m. during Church beginning September 10, 2023

3-5K and 1st-5th graders

During the 10:30 a.m. worship on Sunday mornings, children are invited forward for the Children’s Sermon with Mr. Ken after which 3 year olds through 5th graders are invited to Children’s Chapel in the Education Building. We are excited to expand our Children’s Chapel this year to include more activities to foster the spiritual lives of our children. The Celebrate Wonder curriculum will help to deepen children's faith formation and to create a safe space for children to ask big questions and claim their spiritual identity as children of God.

Mr. Ken will bring 3 y.o.-5th grade children together for an engaging lesson in the Chapel before breaking up to continue the lesson through activities and crafts in the downstairs classrooms with volunteers. All children will be at the end of the kindergarten hall for pick up after church.

Volunteers are needed each Sunday during church to lead the activity and lesson for either the 3-5K group or 1st-5th graders after the Children’s Chapel group time.

Parents, guardians, and members with a heart for children are encouraged to volunteer 2 or 3 times a semester. To make it as convenient as possible, all lesson plans will be provided ahead of time and lesson materials will be prepared before you arrive on Sunday morning.

A release form needs to be completed for each child under 18. Please return the form to Mr. Ken (ce@2ndpc.org) or to the church office.

NURSERY

The church nursery is available at the end of the kindergarten hall each Sunday at 10:00 a.m. staffed by our wonderful nursery workers and member volunteers. Children over 2 years old are invited into worship until the children’s sermon, after which preschool and elementary children are invited to Children’s Chapel with Mr. Ken. All children will be at the end of the kindergarten hall for pick up after church.

At Second, we value the impact our young people have within our congregation and community. Our youth serve as ushers, liturgists, and musicians in worship and there are unique opportunities for spiritual development, faith formation, study and service for children of all ages throughout the year.

Please contact our Director of Children and Youth, Ken Carrington at ce@2ndpc.org for more information or to learn more about serving with our children & youth.
